Butterscotch

Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 1-2C Light Brown Sugar
  • 1C Heavy Cream
  • 1C Whole Milk
  • 1/2T Kosher Salt
  • 1T Vanilla Extract

Steps

  1. In a small sauce pan melt one stick of butter, add brown sugar.
  2. Increase heat until sugar goes from a sandy texture with melted butter, to a cohesive sauce.
  3. Combine the milk and cream.
  4. When sauce turns dark and begins to smell lightly toasted, add cream.
  5. Bring to a low simmer. Reduce until thickened.
  6. Once desired thickness is reached, remove from heat and add salt and vanilla extract.
